About Kenny Slaught
Kenny Slaught is the founder and president of Investec Real Estate Companies. Since 1983, he has grown the firm into the largest real estate development and management business in Santa Barbara County, acquiring more than three million square feet of coastal California apartment, office, retail, and self-storage properties. Currently employing forty individuals, the company oversees more than $1 billion in assets, is accredited by the Institute of Real Estate Management, and has been a longtime member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
As President of Investec, Kenny Slaught had an instrumental role in establishing the firm’s investment strategies and policies, determining its asset class allocations and overseeing its business decisions. Under his visionary guidance, the firm has generated lucrative opportunities in times of highly varying financial markets, leading to Investec’s impeccable reputation in the property investment community.
A 1979 graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Slaught holds a degree in business and economics, as well as a certification from the California Contractors State License Board, and a California real estate broker’s license, which he obtained in 1979. Prior to forming Investec, he was a founding partner of the MKS Companies, a real estate development, property management, and mortgage brokerage firm.
In addition to his business endeavors, Slaught is passionate about giving back to his community and has held leadership positions in many of Southern California’s nonprofit organizations. He is an active board member of the UCSB Foundation; has formerly served on the board of the Santa Barbara Hospice Foundation; and is a substantial supporter to the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation, and many local high schools.
