Hoover Dam was constructed during the Great Depression era, from 1931 to 1936, explains Kenny Slaught. The structure’s price was $49 million, and it was first called Boulder Dam. Its name was changed to Hoover Dam later as a tribute to its major contributor, President Herbert Hoover. Hoover Dam can generate over 4,2 billion kWh 2 a year due to its large, 35.000 cubic kilometers of full capacity. The dam is 221 meters high and 379 meters long.
